Romina Shama was born in Switzerland of an Egyptian-Italian background.
She studied film and photography at Central St Martin’s School in London
and graduated in 2003. She now lives and works in Paris.

“Elle ne dévoile pas, mais referme sur elle-même ce que l’image promet premier abord, l’éclaircissement. Ce n’est ni elle qui pose, ni le corps. J’ai trouvé dans ces images, un contenu presque hors cadre, qui m’a fait sentir en face d’un moment, d’un lieu, tels qu’ils seraient s’ils n’avaient pas été « pris ». Comme si de l’image prise, ne restait qu’une distance, une absence de lien…
